Politik-HER – School of Politics for Young Women

Politik-Her, RESET’s flagship initiative, is transforming women’s political participation in Cyprus and across Europe. By creating a safe and inclusive space, Poltik-Her is helping to shape a new generation of leaders-women who are ready to drive change and reimagine politics as a space that truly represents all.

Launched in 2023 with the support of the European Union, Politik-Her has quickly grown into a unique School of Politics for Young Women. It provides an intercultural, inclusive, and sustainable learning environment where participants exchange knowledge, connect with women leaders, and take meaningful action to advance gender equality.

Since its launch, the program has combined local and international focus groups, face-to-face workshops on leadership and gender equality, and a transformative bootcamp in Naples, Italy, where participants from Cyprus collaborated with peers from Italy, Romania, and Sweden to design pilot action projects. These projects, rooted in real community needs, aim to drive change, both locally and across borders.

One participant, Jamilla Elsayed, reflected on the experience:
“The project created a space where we could learn new skills, share our stories, and build each other up. What stood out to me the most was the way everyone supported each other—it wasn’t just about individual growth but about lifting each other as a community. It opened my eyes to the challenges many women face and showed me how important it is to create opportunities where our voices can truly be heard.”

In Cyprus, the Politik-Her team has been actively designing and implementing community-based initiatives with tangible impact. So far, three pilot actions have been launched:

  • The Voting Ballot: a real-life referendum simulation where passersby voted on gender equality policies they believed should be prioritized in Parliament. The results informed policy recommendations for the National Gender Equality Strategy.
  • The Unsafety Map: an interactive installation where participants marked, with fingerprints, how safe they felt in different environments, creating a powerful visual of lived experiences.
  • Street Interviews: engaging young people in conversations about gender equality, gathering insights that will later be compiled into a policy paper.
