Agros, Cyprus – Can a card game help address violent behaviour among young people? The creators of Radical Game believe it can.

The “Radical Game” Project Inspires Youth to Tackle Polarisation

Across Europe, rising violence, discrimination, and polarisation are pressing concerns, with young people often caught in the middle of deep divides. In response to this urgent challenge, we asked ourselves: What if there were a tool that could help young people view the world from new perspectives while equipping them with the skills to transform it? That question became the starting point for creating the Radical Game.

Radical Game is an interactive, role-based card game that equips young people with the skills to navigate complex societal challenges, bridge divides, and drive positive change in their communities.

In the game, players take on different roles in fictional countries facing social, political, and cultural challenges, mirroring real-world issues. As they negotiate, solve problems, and work together to overcome obstacles, players develop essential skills such as communication, leadership, and conflict resolution; tools they can carry into their everyday lives.

“It’s incredible to see how quickly young people get into character, connect with the scenarios, and advocate for their ideas,” said Sophia, Mentor of United Sports. “Even if they’re not yet experts in advocacy, the game helps them discover the best ways to speak up for the good of the whole group.”

Radical Game recently came to life at the United Sports Cyprus ‘Young Leaders’ Summer Camp, where more than 20 inspiring young participants tested the game in action. The sessions sparked lively debates, creative problem-solving, and a strong sense of teamwork. Watching the participants step into the shoes of different characters and work through challenges was a powerful reminder of the game’s purpose.

Looking Ahead

Our hope is to bring this interactive experience to schools, youth groups, and community organisations in Cyprus, and maybe beyond. By doing so, we can help build a generation that is not only aware of the challenges ahead but also ready to meet them with creativity, empathy, and determination.

Radical Game is an EU-funded initiative led by six partners, including RESET. Based in Cyprus, RESET is a small, diverse team with a mission to redefine how we address social inequalities. Through creative, innovative, and collaborative methodologies, developed together with the communities themselves, we support ideas and co-create actions that have a meaningful and long-term positive social impact. For us, change begins when we are all part of it.
