Limassol, Cyprus – RESET proudly received the 2024 GENE Global Education Award for its Youth-Led Enviro-Hackathon for Community-Based Intervention by Disabled Youth.

The award-winning initiative took place under RESET’s EU-funded project Youthies, which is redefining youth engagement by empowering young people, particularly those with disabilities, to create innovative, green, and community-centered solutions.

” This recognition underscores the importance of giving space and voice to young people with disabilities, enabling them to participate in decision-making and become active change agents.” – Eliza Patouris, Co-Founder of RESET

The Enviro-Hackathon, held in Cyprus, brought together diverse young participants to tackle pressing environmental challenges while ensuring accessibility and inclusivity were at the heart of every idea. Participants received training in Design Thinking, Storytelling, and Community-Based Initiatives, gaining practical skills to identify local environmental issues and develop actionable solutions.

The winning idea from the hackathon proposed the creation of an eco-friendly, accessible park by the sea – a space where everyone could connect with nature without barriers. With the support of ENA Foundation and the Limassol Municipality, this vision has now become a reality and a powerful testament to what can happen when young people are given the tools and platform to shape the future of their cities.
