What you will learn in this course

Smartphone and tablet ownership has risen sharply and young people have greater autonomy than ever before to explore their own online world, bringing both opportunities and risks.
Lack of personal contact with friends can lead to increased risk-taking, such as online sex-sharing, while increased and unstructured internet time can expose young people to potentially harmful and violent content, as well as a greater risk of cyber-bullying.
This training will describe the risks associated with social networking (i.e. hate speech, cyber bullying) and identify ways in which young people can mitigate these risks and develop digital resilience. It will cover aspects such as the rights and responsibilities young people have on the internet, as well as how they can become ambassadors of positive change in the cyberworld.
